The Slingshot Machine. At first glance the kite appears pretty normal but as you look closer massive differences are evident. The Machine still has One Pump, it still has Splitstrut but this is where the differences start... the Splitstrut only runs 2/3rds of the way from the leading edge and stops 1/3rd short of the trailing edge. The space that is left is bridged by a carbon batten on the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th struts. This idea saves a great deal of weight but what it also does is allow the rider to tailor the power in the kite like never before.
When getting going the rider will pull the bar in and tension up the rear lines - this will tighten the leach of the kite and in effect pull these battens down causing the kite to produce more power. As the rider gets up and running the pressure can be released from the rear lines - letting the flaps up again bringing the kite back to a more efficient shape. The rider can then tension the 5th line transforming a huge kite into feeling like something much smaller in the hands - no more getting pulled off down wind by a tractor! Again, the theory makes sense, the kite has been extensively tested by the boys - all that remains is to confirm their findings. Looks like it could be something very special though. The Machines are going to be available in 17.5, 20.5 and 25.5 meters. They will all come with a 23" Profire bar complete with the One Line system...
