Construction: Epoxy and Tri-axle fiberglass sandwich a vert-lam Oak core, pressed into concave and convex cambers for liveliness, responsiveness and high energy potential.

Side cuts
  • Decreased torsional stiffness between feet so as to exploit the torsional energy potential of the board construction and allow for superior turn angulation/greater nuances in the turning radius
  • Wide foot pads to maximize control
Tapered ends:
  • Pivots off the trucks for control and energy generation.
  • Eliminates wheel bite.
Symmetrical shape
  • centered center of gravity for greater control and stability
Sprayed on clear grip
  • doesn’t effect the flex of the board
  • not too abrasive but still grippy
  • can be scraped off and traditional grip applied if desired
Flex:

Currently Available in five flexes spread out over two lengths. Check out the flex chart to determine the most appropriate board for your stance weight and style. (Link to vanguard flex chart). Keep in mind that a softer flex patterns will give you more control and tighter turns at a wide range of speeds, but tend to loose stability slightly at higher speeds. Stiffer flex means more energy potential and more stability at higher speeds, but will not be as forgiving and lively when cruising.

Trucks:

Randal R-II 180s: the vanguard was designed around the Randal R-II 180 truck. It is a stable, lightweight, and quick turning truck that works synergistically with the deck. We have found no other truck that works as well on this board although the Exkate Torsion truck 201 with appropriate bushings and Original Super 8s are worth checking out if you want to increase turning radius. -Our stiffest flex board (Flex 1, Green logo) is specially configured with the stiffer Red bushings for heavier riders. All other flexes come with the standard high quality yellow bushings.

Wheels:

70mm 78a Krypto Classic Ks: they are very grippy and their shape allows for controlled slides when pushed. We have used these wheels for many years and think very highly of them. The vanguard can handle any outerset wheels from 65-85mm and preferably wide and soft. If you plan on doing much sliding we recommend a rounded radius wheel. There are many great wheels out there and we particularly recommend checking out Abec 11 and 3DM.

Bearings:

Terminator II Pro Golds: why? because they are fast. There are many great bearings and we particularly recommend Bones Swiss, and Pleasure Tools. We use and recommend bearing spacers to reduce load on the bearings and extend their life.

The Ride:

Super strong, lightweight, and sexy, these lively composite boards offer the finest ride legally available. Advanced technologies, innovative design, and a commitment to using only the finest ingredients, has resulted in the evolution of skateboarding. Pre-LOADED with concave and convex cambers, and LOADED with the best components available, the Vanguard series represents groundbreaking innovations in skateboard design. The convergence of skateboard and snowboard construction, with much trial and error, has resulted in a dynamically-LOADED, flexible, highly-tuned board with control and stability for both treacherous mountain roads and barefoot surf checks. With symmetrical shape and stance for a balanced center of gravity, as well as the ability to weight and unweight the deck through turns for control and efficient energy generation, these performance downhill boards will change the way you experience topography.

Additional setup options:

Play around with kingpin tightness to adjust the looseness of the trucks. Bushings can be swapped out to adjust the ride as well. We recommend the Tracker Stimulators, and Bones Hardcore Bushings (although they are a little low for the randals). Be sure to find a wheel appropriate for your riding style and desired speed.

*Riding Tips:

The board is designed for a centered, snowboard style stance. As you get comfortable at higher speeds learn to slide. It’s the safest way to slow down at high speeds and will increase your skills. Ride the board however you please.
